Remona Rhooms, BVM
Veterinarian
So here are some facts…from the beginning.
Born and raised in NYC, Brooklyn to be specific. I grew up surrounded by animals but never went to the vet. I attended D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY - obtained Bachelor's in Biology. Had to take a year off to gain experience to apply for vet school (poor planning). Spent that year working at the ASPCA as an animal technician. Graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in London, England 2014 - BVM degree. I spent some time traveling through the years, and while there, everything was so close.
I returned to NYC. Bounced around a few hospitals before opening my own clinic in 2017. Open for 5 years before closing it down and moving to Houston, Texas. Never set foot in Texas beforehand. A fresh start.
Currently, live with 2 rescue cats (Joots and Toulouse) and two ferrets (Jacob and Wilhem-Brothers Grimm authors). I love big dogs, especially the Cane Corso. I’ve had three in the past. My first Cane Corso was my logo for my clinic-my inspiration. I actually flew her with me to England to go to school! So ferrets and Mastiffs all the way. They're a perfect combo.
I love to try new things and I am not afraid of DIY. I was very good at clay shooting in veterinary school, so I may get back into that. I was a vegetarian for about ten years, so all sorts of dishes are welcome, except bugs. Never bugs. And no dark chocolate.
I like to make sure the client understands what we are doing and why. For difficult cases, we come up with a feasible plan together.
